MALINDRA PUTMAN

Malindra Putman, of Simpsonville, died Jan. 5, 2006 at Hillcrest Hospital.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Hawkins and Mamie Lee Williams.

Surviving are a daughter, Faith Williams of Simpsonville; a son, Robert Williams of Piedmont; sisters, Hattie Mae Putman of Greenville and Carolyn Hawkins of New York; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Pinedale Memorial Park.


CANDACE RENE CANNADY

Candace Rene Cannady, 48, of Williamston, died Jan. 12, 2006 at her home.

She was employed by C&T Manufacturing and was a member of Set Free Christian Fellowship.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Cannady; a daughter, Amanda Garrett of Laurens; two grandsons; parents, William and Iris A. Perry; three sisters, Vicky Sowell, Doris Thomas, and Dewanna Cantrell; and two brothers, Ricky Moore and Charles Moore, Jr.

A celebration of life was held Jan. 14 at Set Free Christian Fellowship, 4415 Highway 153 East, Easley, SC 29642.

Memorials may be made to the church in her honor.


CHARLES ‘PETE’ OWENS

Charles “Pete” Edward Owens, 60, of Easley, died Jan. 11, 2006.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Paul Edward and Katie Louise Norris Owens. He was a security officer with Atlas Security. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Della Grindstaff Owens of the home; a son, George Owens of Williamston; three grandchildren; sister, Linda Minner of Easley; and two brothers, Dan Owens of Liberty and Billy Owens, of Easley.

Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at West End Baptist Church. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.


GEORGE H. CARLSON

George H. Carlson, 91, husband of the late Mary Ogilvie Carlson, died Jan. 12, 2006 in Greenville.

He was born in Brownville, ME, the son of Oscar H. and Louisa Degerlund Carlson.

He retired  from Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT. He was also the owner and operator of Moosehead Marina in Rockwood, ME.

He is survived by a son, Stephen Carlson of Pelzer; a brother, Henry Carlson of Winthrop, ME; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will held in Hillside Cemetery, Monson, ME in the spring.


JAMES B. JACOBSEN

James B. Jacobsen, 59, of Piedmont, died Jan. 12, 2006.

Born in Yonkers, NY, he was the son of Edwin A. Jacobsen and Mary Cooper Jacobsen of New York. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a real estate attorney in Mauldin.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Jacobsen of the home; two daughters, Dr. Kimberly J. Holliday of Columbia, and Amanda J. Jacobsen of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren; two brothers, Robert S. Jacobsen and David E. Jacobsen, both of New York; and a sister, Jane J. Hollinger of Virginia.

A private memorial service was held Jan. 15.


VIRGINIA J. PATTERSON WILSON

Virginia Jeanne Patterson Wilson, 77, of Piedmont, died Jan. 15, 2006.

Born in Medford, OR, she was the daughter of the late Myrl L. and Margaret Shepard Patterson.

Surviving are daughters, Roberta J. Williams of Paget, Bermuda, Susan Brinley of Piedmont; Margaret Ann Wilson of Conway; sons, James. P. Wilson of Greenville, David M. Wilson of Piedmont, John R. Wilson of Greenville; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Jan. 17 at Berea First Baptist Church. 


JAMES ALFRED JOHNSON, IV

James Alfred Johnson, IV, 29, of Greenville, died Jan. 11, 2006.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of James Alfred Johnston, III and Shirley Smith Willis Johnson of Greenville.

He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Serina Johnson of Greenville; two brothers, Donnie Willis of Pelzer and Ron Willis of Columbia.

Graveside services were held Jan. 16 at Graceland Cemetery, West.


THOMAS HARRISON PENNEBAKER

Thomas Harrison Pennebaker, 55, husband of Un Sun Pennebaker, died Jan. 14, 2006 at his home.

He was born in Lexington, KY, the son of Lois Frances McDaniel Pennebaker of Greenville and the late Isaac Harrison Pennebaker.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, the European Theater and Panama. He owned and operated Doolie’s Sports Bar and Grill and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Lexington, KY.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Ashley Harrison Pennebaker of Greer, Melissa H. Jankowski of Highland Ranch, CO, Tracy Harrison Pennebaker of Greer and Anna Clair Shin of Greenville, and Michelle Frances Pennebaker of the home; four grandchildren; and a sister, Emily Harrison Pennebaker of Greenville.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.


MARTHA MATTISON

Martha Holliday Jones Mattison, 69, wife of Pastor James Henry Mattison, of Pelzer, died Jan. 16, 2006 at her home.

Born in Liberty, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Alfred and Mae Burgess Holliday. She was twice married, first to the late Loie Jones, was a homemaker and a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Rebecca Jones Dauksas of Pelzer; son, Timothy Loie Jones of Morrow, GA; sister, Elaine Steen of Liberty; brothers, Fulton Holliday, Kinard Holliday, both of Liberty; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Jan. 21 at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.
