John Albert Scrap Campbell, 93, of Williamston, widower of Myrtle Cartee Campbell, died Jan. 24, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Calvin Calhoun, Sr. and Clara May Poore Campbell. He retired from Cushman in Williamston and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters, Johnnie Campbell Bell, Peggy Kelley, both of Williamston; sister, Vadie Copeland of Williamston; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Anderson County Meals on Wheels, P.O. Jackalnie Woody, of Greenville, died Jan. 21, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane Fernandez. Surviving are daughters, Sarah Ann Fernandez of Spartanburg, Barbara Woody Byrd and Maneice Woody, both of Greenville; sons, Flynn Woody of Greenville and Louis Woody of Piedmont; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Terry L. Blakely died Jan. 22, 2007 at Autumn Care of Saluda Nursing Home. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late J.T. and Mattie Lee Carter Blakely. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are a sister, Carolean Blakely of Piedmont; and brothers, Larry Blakely of the home, Jimmy Blakely of Piedmont, Johnny Blakely of Taylors and Nathan and Steven Blakely, both of Greenville. Funeral service was held Jan. 26 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Pinedale Memorial Park.Julie A. Pearson Julie Ann Pearson, 48, wife of James Pearson, of Westminster, died Jan. 23, 2007 at her home. Born in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of Richard H. Willhite and the late LaJune Adams Willhite. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving, in addition to her husband and father are; a daughter, Jessica Tucker of Greenville; one grandson; sisters, Pam Willhite of Michigan and Lori Jennings of Piedmont. Memorial services were held Jan. 26 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
Douglas Henry Mosley, 84, of Belton, husband of Sarah Scott Mosley, died Jan. 27, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John Tillman and Seppie Dilleshaw Mosley. He retired from Cryovac and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. He was a founding member and former commissioner of the Dunklin Fire District. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Beth Cargile of Pelzer; son, Bob Mosley of Belton; and three grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. Mary Evon Canup Burgess, 67, wife of Benjamin B. Burgess, of Piedmont, died Jan. 27, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville County, she was daughter of the late Jesse R. and Edna Perry Canup. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband of the home; daughters, Debra Kelly, Kathy Khezrnejat, both of Piedmont; son, Benjamin Scott Burgess of Piedmont; sister, Ruth Wynn of Piedmont; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 30 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Marion C. Claibourne, 78, of Speedwell, TN, died Jan. 27, 2007. He was a member of Speedwell Academy Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bean Claiborne; daughters, Pat Ray of Speedwell, Susie Bailey of Piedmont, Tammy Hoskins of Speedwell; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a brother, David H. Claiborne. Funeral service was held Jan. 29 at Cross Chapel. Interment was held Jan. 30 at Beeler Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church in Speedwell, TN.
Tommie Ruth Burroughs Lollis, 79, wife of Robert Calvin Lollis, formerly of Honea Path, died Jan. 28, 2007 at National Health Care in Anderson. Born in Athens, GA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Eunice Self Burroughs. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Monsanto. Surviving are her husband of Honea Path; three sons, Steve Wilson of Honea Path, Dennis Wilson of Hodges and Mitch Lollis of Anderson; two daughters, JoAnn Ashley of Williamston and Linda Pollard of Pigeon Forge, TN; one sister, Effie Mae Fleming of Honea Path; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 30 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
Victoria Huff, widow of John D. Huff, died Jan. 28, 2007. She was born to the late Esther Snipes Jordan and William Claude Jordan. She was a member of Augusta Road United Methodist Church. She was an ordained minister in Independent Trucking Ministries Church. She was formerly associated with Belks. She is survived by her children, Claude Bud Huff of Ware Shoals, William D. Billy Huff and Hope H. Crider, both of Piedmont, Jerrie H. McCue of Williamston; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Augusta Road United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Kathleen Kintzle died Jan. 25, 2007 at her home. Born in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of Donald and Mary Catherine Reinhard. She is survived by her husband, David; sons, Brad and Lane McCracken; father, Donald and 11 brothers and sisters. She worked as a Nutritional Health Counselor. A celebration of her life was held Jan. 28 at the Loftis Community Room at Mills Mill, 400 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC. Virginia S. Benson, 87, died Jan. 25, 2007 at National Health Care of Mauldin. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin T. and Geneva Porter Singleton, and wife of the late Charles Gary Benson. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Rosa of Greenville and Jean Bannister of Piedmont; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Brenda Childers of Greenville. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Entombment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Sara Sanders Satterfield Pike, 84, wife of William W. Pike, died Jan. 25, 2007 at Mountain Home Health and Rehab. Born in Hartwell, GA, she was a daughter of the late John T. and Effie Stovall Sanders. She retired from Emb-Tex, and was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are: daughter, Linda Adragna of Williamston; son, William Bill Satterfield of Taylors; stepson, Fred Pike of Lenoir, NC; sister, Catherine Koncz of Anderson; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Joseph Satterfield. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Reedy River Baptist Church. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. David Jonathan Durham, 20, of Pendleton, died Jan. 26, 2007. Born in Anderson County he was the son of David Jonathan Durham of Williamston and Deborah Kelley Durham of the home. He attended NewSpring Church and was a member of the National Guard. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Kayla Durham of the home; grandparents, Jane Ginn; Millard Ginn; Grady and Dolly Durham and Betty Johnson of Williamston. Betty Moody Coones, 82, formerly of Pelzer, widow of Chief Master Sergeant Wade W. Coones, died Jan. 28, 2007 at Summit Place Living Center in Simpsonville. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Charley and Florence Alexander Moody. She was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pelzer. Surviving are son, Tom Coones, Tim Coones, both of Simpsonville; son, Todd Coones of Alamogordo, NM; daughter, Tina Brockman of Greenville; brothers, Barney Moody of Williamston; Suge Moody of Pelzer; sisters, Alice Durham, Connie Mackey, both of Williamston, Shelby Hayes, Martha Reid, both of Pelzer; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 31 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
WEST PELZER, SC - Fred Richard Cooper, 60, husband of Jean Hannah Cooper, of 1 Dendy Street, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville County, SC, he was a son of Winifred Clark Cooper of Greer, SC and the late Wayne Cooper. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, was formerly employed by the Greenville County Sheriffs Department where he was an investigator, and a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughters, Cindy Brashier Moore of Pelzer, SC, Wendy Blackwood of Greer, SC; sons, Matt Brashier of Piedmont, SC, Tyler Cooper of Greenville, SC; sister, Becky Cox of Greer, SC; brothers, John Wayne Cooper of Brandon, FL, Michael Cooper of Statesville, NC; and four grandchildren, Cain Moore, Cody Brashier, Rayna Blackwood and Raven Blackwood. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at West Pelzer Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Smith officiating. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home and received friends from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 30 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. |
