GLADYS LINDLEY

Gladys Allen Lindley, 87, of Piedmont, widow of Herbert Lee Lindley, died March 17, 2006 at NHC of Greenville.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Ira A. and Olivia Davis Allen. She retired from J.P. Stevens, Estes Plant, and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty Leckie of Piedmont; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held March 19 at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church, 1620 Old Pelzer Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.


“ED” CHASTEEN

Leamond Edward “Ed” Chasteen, 79, died March 19, 2006 at Fountain Inn Nursing Home.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Dave and Tweetie Mae Poole Chasteen. He was retired from Carolina Blouse Company.

Surviving are two daughters, Lori Martin of Pelzer and Tracey Johnson of Victorville, CA; and a son, Mike Chasteen of CA.

Graveside services were held Mar. 22 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be  made to Shriners Childrens Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.


GRADY WILLIAMS

James Grady Williams, 85, of Piedmont, widower of Clara Marsengill Williams, died March 17, 2006.

Born in Demorest, GA, he was the son of the late James Ernest Williams and Anna Sullins Johnson.

He was retired from Cely Construction Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WW II.

Surviving are eight daughters, Patricia Kunz of Austin, TX, Barbara Smith of Greenville, Sharon Redding of Greenville, Brenda Cooper of Piedmont, Sheila Duncan of Greenville, Gail Williams of Piedmont, Marsha Williams of Mauldin, and Shannah Easter of Piedmont; three sons, Keith Williams of Macon, GA, Garry Williams of Piedmont, and Chris Williams of Greenville; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held March 19 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.


JAMES DONALD TINSLEY

James Donald Tinsley, 64, of Fountain Inn, died March 16, 2006.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James B. Tinsley and the late pearline Smith Tinsley. He was a member of Tremont Church of God.

Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Chappell of Piedmont and Sonya T. Heitmuller of Lexington; a son, Jason Phillips of Taylors; two sisters, Cordelia White of Fountain Inn and Earline Frady of Piedmont; six grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 20 at Cannon Funeral Home Fountain Inn. Burial followed in Cannon Memorial Park.

NORMA ‘NONNIE’ DICKERSON

Nora M. “Nonnie” Dickerson, 88, of Hospice House of Greenwood, died March 17, 2006.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Henry V. and Minnie Belle Brashier Dickerson.

She retired from Dunean Mills and was a charter member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Simpsonville.

Surviving are one sister, Louise Alexander of Pelzer.

Funeral services were held Mar. 19 in Cannon Memorial Park Mausoleum.

THOMAS BROOKS JR.

Thomas Brooks Jr., of Greenville, died March 18 in Greenville.

Surviving are wife, Shirley Brooks of the home; sons, Christopher Brooks of Charlotte, Patrick  and Timothy Brooks, both of Greenville; daughters, Cheryl and Thomasina Brooks, both of Greenville, and Ethel Wilson of Piedmont; brothers, Leon Brooks and John Wallace, both of Greenville; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Mar. 23 at S.C. Franks Chapel of Remembrance, Greenville, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.


OLLIE VEE EPPS

Ollie Vee Epps, 75, of Williamston, died March 14, 2006 at Hospice of the Upstate.

Born in Williamston, she was the daughter of the late John Milford Jones and Essie Corabelle Townsend Jones. She was a homemaker and was a member of River of Life Tabernacle in Easley.

Surviving are widower Joseph Furman Epps of the home; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Pace of Taylors, Loretta Jane Lollis of Pelzer; Debbie Marie Epps of Greenville, Martha Sue Payne and Mary Magdalene Patterson, both of Williamston and Rebecca Lynn Epps of Greenville; sister, Lunie Mae Jones Mace of Georgia; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 17 at Woodlawn Funeral Home chapel in Anderson. Burial followed in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.


ROBERTA SPURGEON JACKSON

Roberta Spurgeon Jackson, of Piedmont, died March 13, 2006 in the St. Francis Hospital, Greenville.

A daughter of the late Mable Spurgeon and Ralph Jackson, she was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, Simpsonville and was a former employee of the Dispozo Co.

She is survived by her husband, Elbert Jackson of the home; a son, Johnny McGowan of the home; two step-daughters, Shirley Bailey of Syracuse, NY, and Glynnis Henderson of Marietta, GA; a brother, James Spurgeon of Greenville; a sister, Shirley Allen of Gray Court; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 18 at the Rocky Creek Baptist church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.


ROGER JAMES FULLBRIGHT

Roger James Fullbright, 57, of Belton, died March 16, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Eunice Hammond Fullbright. He worked for Greenville County Road and Bridge Maintenance and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Surviving in addition to his father are: son, R. J. Fullbright of Greenville; daughter, Rebecca Wilson of Anderson; sister, Glenda Phillips of Anderson; and brothers, Marshall Fullbright of Belton and George “Buck” Fullbright of Williamston.

Graveside services were held Mar. 18 at Garden of Memories.


‘SAM’ BLACK

Leroy “Sam” Black, 77, of Easley, died March 17, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Guy and Irene Burgess Black, he retired from the Easley Plant of Woodside Mills and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Wimpey Black of the home; a daughter, Frances Gray of Six Mile; a brother, Wallace Black of Six Mile; six sisters, Geanell Clark, Louise Smith and Edith McAlister, all of Six Mile, Doris Teat of Liberty, Beulah Snider of Cateechee and Mattie Jo Robinson of Williamston; two stepsons, David Owens of Slabtown and Timothy Owens of Liberty; three stepdaughters, Linda Baylis of Liberty, Christine Harris of Pickens and Karen Graham of Slabtown; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and 25 step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Mar. 21 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.


JACK W. FOSTER

Jack W. Foster, 70, of Greenville, died March 18, 2006.

Born in Saluda, NC, he was the husband of Charlotte C. Foster and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aldon Foster.

He was retired from Robinson Food Brokers, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a stepdaughter, Brenda J. Smith of Greer; a son, Jackie Aldon Foster of Pelzer; two stepsons, William Marshall Crawford of Greenville, Loren Edward Crawford of Fort Meyers, FL; four sisters, Aldine Dorn of McCormick, Diane Robertson, Jerie Foster, both of Greenville, Betty White of Easley; two brothers, Ned Foster of Travelers Rest, Thomas Foster of Taylors; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Mar. 20 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.


J. CRAIG BOLDING

Jerry Craig Bolding, 55, of Fountain Inn, died March 14, 2006 in Daytona Beach, FL.

Born in Greenville County, a son of Thelma Fowler Bolding of Inman and the late Harlin Bolding, he was owner and operator of ARC Welding and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Surviving, in addition to his mother are; a son, Andrew Craig Bolding; a daughter, Rebecca Frances Bolding, both of Simpsonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Rhonda Bolding of Pelzer; a sister, Janice Goss of Pickens; and a nephew, Christopher Bolding of Pelzer.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, Easley.


ANGELINE ‘ANGIE’ PATTON

Angeline “Angie” Margaret Patton, 76, of Piedmont, died March 16, 2006.

Born in Kenosha, WI, she was a daughter of the late Joseph G. and Maria Teresa Vite Chiapetta.

She retired from Barden’s Department Store in Kenosha and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Casey Patton of Piedmont; a sister, Mary Spizzerrie of Mississauga, Ontario; and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Riley and Nicole of the home.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on March 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.


DONNIE NELMS

Donald S. “Donnie” Nelms, 58, of Williamston, husband of Nancy Rodgers, died March 17, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A native of Pendleton, he was a son of the late Hallan H. and Evelyn Smith Nelms. He formerly worked in textiles and was an Army veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Tommy Lee Nelms of Pendleton; and sisters, Carolyn Chism of Clemson and Patricia Nelms Travis of Union.

Graveside services were held March 19 at Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.

JUDY WEBB

Judy Ann Webb, 64, formerly of Williamston, died March 16, 2006 at Anderson Dialysis Center.

Born in Belton, she was a member of Welfare Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Foster and Miriam Jenkins Williams.

Surviving are sisters, Joyce Mitchell and Jerolyn Mozell Wilkerson, both of Belton.

Funeral services were held Mar. 20 at Welfare Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
