Marvin Brown, of Greenville, died March 22, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Eula Bell Daniels Brown. Surviving are a daughter, Marvene T. Sims of Greenville; a son, Rounea Brown of Piedmont; a sister, Lillian J. Jenkins of Philadelphia, PA; a grandchild reared in the home, Chastity Byrd of Greenville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Mar. 24 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Gary Dewayne Parsons, 16, of Williamston, died March 22, 2006. Born in Anderson, he was son of Thomas Everette Parsons of Pelzer and Tina Boroughs Thrasher of the home. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers, Thomas Michael Parsons and Matthew Lee Parsons, both of the home; sister, Destiny Parsons; step-brother, Steven Owen, both of Pelzer; grandparents, Kathie Eddleman of the home, Martin and Betty Street of Piedmont, and Durwood Boroughs; and great-grandmother, Helen Shaw of the home. Funeral services were held Mar. 25 at Southside Baptist Church, Piedmont. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Janet Elaine Steadings Bolt, 43, of Piedmont, died March 24, 2006. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Melvie Ann Fricks Duncan and the late Cecil Fred Steadings. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Larry Duncan of Pelzer; son, Brandon Chapman of Anderson; daughter, Tonya Chapman of Belton; sister, Donna Cothran of Williamston; brothers, Greg Steadings of Williamston, Mike Steadings of Piedmont; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Mar. 27 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Howard Paul Clark, 74, husband of Patricia Jane Lewis Clark, died March 23, 2006 at his home. He was born in Bessemer City, NC, a son of the late John and Lula Fay Alexander Clark. He was retired form the U.S. Air Force, having served in the U.S. Navy also. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Lois Diane Sands of Melbourne, FL, Paul Clark of Iva, and Kimberly Clark of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pansy McNielly of Bessemer City, NC and Mildred Meeks of Piedmont. Memorial services were held March 26 at Salem United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the church.
Margaret Josephine Phillips Chapman, 70, of Belton, widow of James C. Chapman, died March 23, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson. Born in Williamston, whe was a daughter of the late Garney and Mattie Smith Phillips. She retired from Mount Vernon Mills of Williamston and was a past member of the Williamston Church of God. Surviving are daughters, Margaret Ann Chapman of Belton, Janice D. Bragg of Woodruff, Glenda Kay Holliday of West Pelzer; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and sisters, Marie Hawkins of Belton and Pat Nichols of Williamston. Funeral services were held Mar. 26 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer. Burial followed in the Williamston Cemetery.
James B. Kay, 78, husband of Dorothy Rutledge Kay, died March 26, 2006 at his home. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Thomas Newton and Grace Rampey Kay. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Owens-Corning. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his son, Gary Kay of Williamston; and sisters, Elizabeth Cooper of Powdersville, and Juanita Bartelt and Patricia Stratton, both of Greenville. Herbert Hub Talmer Rogers, 71, of Greenville, died March 25, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Walter Herbert and Genav Garrett Rogers. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from AT&T. He was a member of Berea First Baptist Church. He is survivved by his wife, Sonia Wells Rogers; two daughters, Valeria E. Rogers of Simpsonville and Kelly R. Brown of Greer; a son, Herbert Keith Rogers of Pickens; a sister, Barbara McConnell of Pelzer; two brothers, William B. Rogers of Easley annd Max P. Rogers of West Pelzer; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Mar. 28 in the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Nathaniel Jones, formerly of Williamston, died March 23, 2006 in Lawrenceville, GA. Born in Williamston, he was the son of Margaret Jones and the late Nathan Jones. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Williamston. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for Michelin Tire. He was also an entrepreneur with several businesses. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Jones of Lawrenceville, GA; stepdaughter, Kelele Wright of the home; mother, Margaret Jones of Williamston; brother, William Jones of Columbia; and sisters, Betty Paul and Martha Jean Jones, both of New York, NY. Funeral services were held Mar. 28 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Williamston.
Mary Ann James, 58, of Anderson, died March 21, 2006 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Joe McDowell and Florine McDowell Grand of Pendleton. She was formerly employed at Mount Vernon Mills in LaFrance and was a member of New Heavenly Temple of Anderson. Surviving are daughter, Dana N. James of Anderson; son, Kwasi Tuffour of Pelzer; stepfather, Clarence Grant of Anderson; stepsister, Diane Womack of Seneca; step-grandmother, Bertha McDowell of Pendleton; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Mar. 25 at W.I. Peek and F.W. Jackson Memorial Chapel of The Unity Mortuary in Anderson. Burial followed in Mount Able Baptist Church Cemetery.
Charles Edward Bridges, 70, of Greenville, died March 26, 2006. Born in Travelers Rest, he was the son of the late William Young and Susie Bruce Bridges. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Faye Harvey Bridges of the home; two daughters, Felicia Ingle of Piedmont and Sheila Queen of Easley; a son, Michael Charles Bridges of Powdersville; and eight grandchildren. William Bill Benton Robinson, 82, of Greenville, died March 26, 2006. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late John Phillip and Annette Hill Robinson. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Overnite Transportation. Surviving are his wife, Faye Rymer Robinson of the home; two daughters, Rita R. Bagwell of Easley and Muchell R. Moore of Pelzer; a son, James Robinson of Easley; and five grandchildren. Graveside services were held March 28 at Graceland Cemetery, West.

July 18, 1966 - March 26, 2006 WILLIAMSTON - Gina Dell New, 39, wife of Rickey New, of 703 H.I. Taylor Road, died Sunday, March 26, 2006. Born in Independence, LA, she was a daughter of John and Eloise Mays of Alpena, AR. She was employed by Nutra Manufacturing, Inc. and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston. Gina was a good mother and loved her girls. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her daughters, Patricia Jean P.J. New and Katrina New, both of the home; sister, Tina Mays of Pelzer; and brothers, Paul Mays of Walker, LA, Walter Mays of Alpena, AR, and Clifton Gabel of Denham Springs, LA. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Roberts and Scott Key officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is at the home and will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
Christopher Morris Kelley, 78, of Taylors, husband of Kathleen Kat Richardson Kelley, died March 27, 2006 at his home. Born in Walhalla, he was the son of the late M. Earl and Annie Pearl Bryant Kelley. He was a retired pharmacist and the former owner of Morris Drugs and Kelleys Korn Kettle. He was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Patsy Tinsley of Pelzer, Kathy Frontroth of Taylors, and Joan Lark of Taylors; a son, Ronnie M. Kelley of Taylors; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277. Funeral services will be held March 30 at noon in the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Louise Jackson Berry, of Simpsonville, died March 24, 2006 at her home. A daughter of the late John Henry Jackson and Wendy Boyd Jackson, wife of the late Willie James Berry, she was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Charles Berry of Mauldin, James Berry of Greenville and Eddie Berry of Piedmont; seven daughters, Louellen Owens, Edna Berry of Greenville, Beatrice Beaty, Willie Mae Doris, Jessie Shunet of Boston, Betty Fox, and Irene Berry of Simpsonville; five sisters, Geraldine Irby, Beatrice Childs, Francis Sullivan of Simpsonville, Rosa Lee Dillard and Carolyn Ann Jackson of New York; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Mar. 30 at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Earnest Taylor Landrum, Sr., 81, of Piedmont, husband of Lois Dean Landrum, died March 26, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Block, TN, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pearl Russell Landrum. He was retired from ARA Services and was a member of Augusta Road United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in WWII and the Korean War. Surviving in addition to his wife, are three sons, Earnest Taylor Landrum, Jr. of Springfield, VA, Jeff Dean Landrum of Simpsonville, and Jeremy Dean Landrum of Germany; five sisters; one brother; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Helen Drake Chapman, widow of the late Broadus Kimbo and the late Richard Chapman of Williamston, died March 27, 2006 at Anderson Place Health Center. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late R.A. Drake Jr. and Rosa Campbell Drake. She was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and retired dental assistant. Surviving are sisters, Louise D. Burgess of Belton and Charlotte D. Stone of Anderson. Graveside services were held Mar. 29 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
