BELTON - Othella Gertrude Tootsie Crawford Johnson, 79, of 122 Oakview Drive, widow of Enoch Johnson, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late J. P. and Cora Belle Hanks Crawford. She retired from Gerber Childrenswear, was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church in Piedmont, the Ladies of the King Sunday School Class, and the WMU. Surviving are daughters, Arlene Johnson of Anderson, Tammy J. Nelson of Belton; grandsons, Brent McAbee, James McAbee, both of Belton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Johnson; three sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday at Bessie Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Griswold officiating. Members of the Daughters of the King Sunday School Class served as honorary escort. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family members are at their respective homes and received friends 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Bessie Road Baptist Church. Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, in charge of arrangements.
Brown Sam Mahon, III, 55, husband of Cheryl Maureen Graves Mahon of Pelzer, died March 27, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Elizabeth Betsy Johnson Mahon and the late Brown Mahon, Jr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a surveyor for the S.C. Department of Transportation, and past president of the Williamston Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, of the home; mother, Elizabeth Betsy Johnson Mahon of Greenville; and brother, Thomas Mahon of Charleston. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on April 5 at Eastview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Emma Elizabeth Mills Allison Sims, 81, wife of James Walker Sims, of Williamston, died March 30, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Sloan and Ada Lee Hammond Mills. She retired from 3M in Greenville and was a member of Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. She is survived by her husband of the home; sons, William Fred Allison and Donald Ray Allison, both of Piedmont; daughters, Kathy D. Ellison and Wanda Allison McCuen, both of Pelzer; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Apr. 2 at Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Samuel Wayde Robertson, infant son of Kenneth Wayde Robertson and Erica Phillips, of Piedmont, died March 31, 2008. In addition to his parents, he is survived by brother, Christopher Tibbal; sister, Emma Robertson, both of the home; grandparents, Della Hall of Pelzer, Kenneth Wayde Robertson, Sr. of Florida, Samuel Phillips of Piedmont, Evelyn McPeak of Iva; and great-grandmother, Eleanor Smallwood of Greenville. Graveside services were held April 2 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Pauline Allen Clinkscales, 100, widow of Elmer Ernest Clinkscales, formerly of Honea Path, died March 29, 2008 At National Health Care in Anderson. Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Mamie Chandler Allen. She was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church and was a Red Cross Volunteer. Surviving are two daughters, Rachel Jones of Lawrenceville, GA and Anne Miller of Vacaville, CA; one sister, Marie Kelley of Moonville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 1 at Barkers Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Barkers Creek Baptist Church, 3207 Hwy. 252, Honea Path, SC 29654.
Bobbie Ann Pelfrey Wardlaw, 72, of Anderson, died March 28, 2008 at her residence. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Furman and Margie Hunnicutt Pelfrey. She was a retired employee of Ryobi (formerly Singer Co.) and was a member of South Anderson Baptist Chapel. Surviving are her husband, Jack Wardlaw of the home; children, Pamela Hudson, Ricky Wardlaw, Brian Wardlaw, and Kristi Lanier, all of Anderson, Lori Whitt of Belton, Deron Wardlaw of Williamston, Kendra Wardlaw of the home, and Jessica Mize of Belton; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Pelfrey of Pendleton. Funeral services were held March 31 at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
