W. ROBERT STALNAKER

Willie Robert Stalnaker, 82, husband of Betty Chambers Stalinaker of Anderson, died April 2, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.

Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late Willie Henry Stalnaker and Ola Mae Davis Stalnaker. He was a Millwright in construction and was of the Baptist Faith.

He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by sons, Dale Stalnaker of Piedmont and Rick Stalnaker of Cornelius, NC; and two grandchildren.

The Funeral Service was held April 7 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 521 N. McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29621.


ETHEL MAE ROSEMOND

Ethel Mae Rosemond, of Pelzer, died April 3, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Johny Ellington and Virginia Anderson.

Surviving are daughters, Connie Henderson and Diane Burns, both of Pelzer; and Sheila Jackson of Greenville; sons, Wilson Rosemond of the home and Michael Rosemond of Seneca; sisters, Shirley Williams, Gloria Ellis, Patricia Sullivan and Glenda Anderson, all of Pelzer, Emma Downs, Beatrice Anderson and Anna Lee Robinson, all of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Apr. 7 at Sweet Canaan Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.


LILA WILLIAMS

February 13, 1926 - April 5, 2006

BELTON - Lila Hiott Williams, 80, wife  of Thomas G. Williams, died April 5, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Floy Cantrell Hiott. She retired from Metric Shirt Plant and was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for fifty years, and was a member and the former teacher of the Mothers Class.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Donnie Wilson of Greenville; granddaughter and her husband, Robin and Chris Hendrix of Powdersville; great-granddaughters, Meghan and Audrey Hendrix; sisters, Addie Guthrie of Pelzer, Ruth Rogers, Dell Moore, Marie Clardy, all of Williamston, Lona Evans of Belton; and brothers, Ralph Hiott and John Hiott of Williamston.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Flossie Hammonds, Hazel Branyon; and two brothers, Roy Hiott and Bernyrd Hiott.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Whitefield Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Fousek and the Rev. Jimmy Smith officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

AGNES LUCILLE M. GOSSETT

Agnes Lucille Mahaffey Gossett, 89, of Greenville, died April 6, 2006.

Born to the late Thomas Grover and Hattie Ophelia Thompson Mahaffey, she was a member of Westville Baptist Church and retired from Judson Mill.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Kenneth Gossett of the home, and a sister, Eugenia M. Canady of Piedmont.

Funeral services were held April 8 in the chapel of Westville Funeral Home.

Interment followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

ANNA BEASLEY

Anna May Tesnear Beasley, 89, formerly of Pelzer, and widow of Marvin Beasley, died April 7, 2006.

Born in Greenville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lura Brown Tesnear. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pelzer Church of God.

Surviving are three sisters, Blanche Hamby and Sarah Mildred Cheek of Anderson, Leona Rogers of Williamston; and brother, Robert Tesnear of Piedmont.

Graveside services were held Apr. 9 at Pine Lawn Cemetery.


ELVIS SIMS

William Elvis Sims, 85, of Fountain Inn, widower of the late Willie Louise Campbell Sims, died April 7, 2006 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was son of the late Melvin Eugene and Ethel Jane Thompson Sims. He was retired from Riegel Mills and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Vaughan Simpson of Pelzer; three sons, Gary Sims of Fountain Inn, Dean Sims of Greenville, Donnie Sims of Pelzer; sisters, Mable Tinsley of Greenvile, Clarice Gilstrap of Easley; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held April 10 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.


EDITH WORTH

Edith Worth, 82, widow of Jack Worth, of Countryside Village, formerly of Pickens, died April 8, 2006.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie Mae Upchurch. She was a member of King’s Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Edith Evelyn Liberty of Piedmont and Patricia W. Meece of Easley; a son, Edward T. Worth of North Carolina; three brothers, Bob Upchurch of Georgia and Bill Upchurch and Joe Upchurch, both of Easley; a sister, Elva Thomas of Smokes,; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held April 10 in the Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.


RAY BRUCE FREEMAN

Ray Bruce Freeman, 76, widower of the late Lillian Simmons Freeman, died April 8, 2006, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Jay Perry and Carrie Ada Ellenburg Freeman. He was retired from Mayfair Mills-Glenwood Division in Easley.

He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Brenda Carolyn Owens of Easley; four sons, Danny Bruce Freeman of Pelzer, Randy Dewitt Freeman, Delma Ray Freeman and Barry Russell Freeman, all of Easley; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 10 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.


J.O. YOUNG

James Olin Young, 88, husband of the late Lois Harris Young, of Iva, died April 8, 2006 at Willow Creek Living Center in Iva.

Born in Iva, he was the son of the late William Hicks Young and the late Allie Jones Young. 

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired from the Naval Shipyard in Charleston. He was also a retiree of Clark-Schwebel.

He was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Joy Young Vaughter of Abbeville; two brothers, Dr. William H. Young of Williamston and Frank Young of Augusta, GA; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 10 at Good Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed at Iva City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Building Funds of First Baptist Church of Iva, 204 East Green Street, Iva, SC 29655.


JAMES O. HAMM JR.

James O. Hamm, Jr., of Newport Richey, FL, formerly of Williamston, died April 9, 2006.

He was the son of the late Lila Sargent and James O. Hamm Sr.

He is survived by three children; one brother; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in Newport Richey, FL on April 12 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Flowers are accepted.


EULA MAE GRANT

Eula Mae Grant, 85, formerly of Black Mountain, NC, died April 7, 2006 in Greer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Henry and Alvah Franks Henry; and husband, John Verlin Grant.

She is survived by son, James Grant of Pelzer; a daughter, Sherry Wheeler of Geer; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 9 in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home in Black Mountain, NC. Burial followed in Black Mountain.


KEENAN GREEN

Anthony Keenan Green, 47, of Pelzer, died April 6, 2006 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Bobby and Omega Booth Green of Honea Path. He was employed by Southeastern Sprinkler Company and was of the Holiness faith.

Surviving are his parents of Honea Path; companion, Lisa Babb of the home; two sons, Bryan Green of Belton and Brandon Green of Honea Path; two brothers, Stephen Green of Honea Path and Zane Green of Honea Path; and one sister, Lisa Birchfield of Belton.

Funeral services were held April 9 at Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.
