Truman Littlefield Wilson, 90, of Pelzer, widow of Truman Woodrow Wilson, died on April 12, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Harrison Bomar and Sallie Rogers Littlefield. She was formerly employed by the Kendall Company and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pelzer. Surviving are daughter, Myrtice Wilson of the home; son, Harrison W. Skeet Wilson of Pelzer; sister, Dorothy Easley of Spartanburg; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Apr. 14 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Parthenia Rhodes died April 8, 2006 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Jack H. and Elizabeth Richey Rhodes. Surviving are sisters, Irene Hagood of Easley, Gracie R. Simmons of Pelzer and Lorene Rhodes of New York; and brothers, Otis and Roosevelt Rhodes, both of Easley. Funeral service was held Apr. 15 at Sweet Canaan Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Bobby Nub Ray Segars, 70, of Conestee, died April 12, 2006 at his home. He was a son of the late James A. Segars and Lettie Jordan. He was a member of the Conestee Assembly of God. He was a retired cabinetmaker. Surviving are four sisters, Joyce Guthrie of Easley, Mary Brock of Greenville, Betty Robertson of Fountain Inn, and Bernice Atwood of Mauldin; four brothers, Floyd Monk Segars of Syracuse, NY, T.J. Segars of Piedmont, Gene Segars of Anderson and Keith Segars of Conestee. Funeral service was held April 15 at Conestee Assembly of God. Interment followed in the Conestee Cemetery.
Robin Meredith Morgan, 41, wife of Dowell Morgan of Starr, died April 12, 2006 at her home. Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of Charles Edward Meredith and Renee Lowe Meredith of Anderson. She was a former secretary at Starr Elementary School and a member of Wellington Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her husband, Dowell Morgan of the home; parents of Anderson; son, Christopher Morgan of the home; daughter, Lindsey Watt of Starr; one grandchild; sister, Kim Campbell of Williamston; and grandmother, Margaret Lowe. Funeral services were held April 14 at the Chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home. Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Anderson.
Velma Skelton McCoy, 87, widow of Guy Herman McCoy, died April 14, 2006 at Silverleaf Assisted Care in Atlanta, GA. She was a daughter of the late Leonard Albert and Elsie Frances Dickerson Skelton. She and her husband were owners of Piedmont Cleaners, and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters Linda Davis of Piedmont, Judy Sanders of Satellite Beach, FL, Audrey Dean of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 17 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association.
Tessie Ward Reynolds, 89, of Belton, formerly of Williamston, widow of Herbert Lamar Reynolds, died April 15, 2006 at Hospice House. Born in Pendleton, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Jennie Mayfield Ward. She was a homemaker and a member of Fants Grove Baptist Church in Pendleton. Surviving are her daughter, Judy M. Jeffers of Lyman; two sons, Curt Reynolds of Belton, Johnny Reynolds of Anderson; sister, Ruth Brock of Pendleton; five grandchidren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 18 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
John Mark Bug McClain, 79, of Piedmont, died April 15, 2006 at his home. Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late John Mark and Nettie Allison McClain, Sr. He retired from John McClain Septic Tank Co. Surviving are three daughters, Jean Barbre, Katie Lark of Piedmont, Rhonda McClain of Columbia; two sons, Mark McClain of Piedmont, Mitchell McClain of Williamston; five brothers, J.B. McClain of Anderson, Ralph McClain, Billy McClain of Piedmont, Bob McClain of Pelzer, Jimmy McClain of Campobello; three sisters, Evelyn Hooper of Piedmont, Juanita Mills of Albany, GA, Brenda McClellion of Easley; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 17 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. William Leon Terrell, Sr., 76, of Simpsonville, died April 10, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Samuel and Lila Slaughter Terrell. Surviving are his wife, Hattie Terrell; daughters, Lavonya Terrell, Janice Terrelll and Teresa Buchanan, all of Nashville, TN, Laretta Blassingame of Piedmont and Reana Stocks of Simpsonville; sons, William Terrell Jr., Vincent Terrell and Rev. Louie Taylor; sisters, Lila Lockhart of East Orange, NJ and Claudyne Terrell of Cape May, CO; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held April 17 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
James Jimmy Robert Saxon, 65, husband of Gloria Jean Werner Saxon, of Williamston, died April 13, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Beatrice Gaillard Saxon of Pelzer and the late Jim Ad Saxon. He was a retired employee of Ticona in Shelby, NC and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by sons, James Scott Saxon of Williamston, Anthony Chris Saxon of Belton; daughters, Amee Saxon Barton of Williamston, Amber Jean Saxon of the home; sisters, Faye Worth of Greenville, Pam Stone of Belton, Lynn Saxon of Liberty; brother, Jerry Saxon of Piedmont; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 15 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial followed in Eastview Cemetery in Honea Path. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1300 Anderson Drive, Williamston, SC 29697.
Frank Manley, widower of Louise Hanley Manley of Central, died April 16, 2006. Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late John and Leila Hopkins Manley. He retired from Mt. Vernon Mills in LaFrance. Prior to this he operated several small grocery stores. He was a member of the Central Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Simpson of Tamassee, Barbara Owens of Belton; one son, Terry Frank Manley of Fountain Inn; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ollie May Golden of Belton and Pauline Gillespie of Seneca. Funeral services were held Apr. 18 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Central. Burial followed in Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, c/o Rev. Lenora Baker Green, 86, of Greenville, died April 16, 2006. Born in Greer, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Pearl Crum Baker. She retired from Meyers-Arnold. She was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Jordan Green. Surviving are two sons, James L. Green of Piedmont and Charles Larry Green of Greenville; a sister, Ruby B. Burnett of Greenville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. September 23, 1915 - April 17, 2006 WILLIAMSTON, SC - Edna Burgess Stringer, 90, of 901 Beaverdam Road, widow of Robert Harley Stringer, died on Monday, April 17, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Odys Kay and Bessie King Burgess. She retired from Palmetto Middle School, was a homemaker and foster mother. Mrs. Stringer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Happy Ladies Sunday School Class, formerly taught the Adult T.E.L. Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Whitefield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Roger (Laura) Dill of Waleska, GA; son, Kenneth Stringer of Andrews; foster son, John Timothy Gentry of Williamston; sister, Hazel Wood of Pelzer; grandchildren, Kenetha Timms, Kenneth Stringer, Leslie Gentry, J.T. Gentry, Harley Gentry, all of Williamston, Rodney Dill of Woodstock, GA, Dirk Dill of Ball Ground, GA, and Wendy Cherrybone of Gainesville, GA; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert H. Stringer, Jr.; two sisters, Ruth Miller, Mrs. John (Lloyd) Davenport; and two brothers, James L. Burgess and O. K. Burgess. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Apr. 19 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Hugh Cooper and the Rev. Bill Ellison officiating. The family is at the home and received friends 6-8 p.m. Apr. 18 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
