William Stanley Hager, 58, of Level Land Community, husband of Linda Hyde Hager died April 7, 2007 at his home. Born in Hackensack, NJ, he was a son of James Elias and Edith Margaret Krober Hager. He was a self employed over the road tractor trailer operator and a United States Marine veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was formerly the owner of his own Stone Mason business and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Linda Hyde Hager of the home; daughter, Diana Nelms of Pelzer; twin brother, Jim Hager of DeSoto, MO; sister, Susan Hager of Clinton, NJ; mother, Edith Margaret Krober Hager of Wood-Ridge, NJ; father, James Elias Hager of Canandaigua, NJ; and one grandson. Funeral services were held Apr. 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial followed in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Anderson. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Edward Ed Lindley, 77, of Rock Hill, died April 23, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. A native of Pelzer, he was the son of the late B. F. and Lucille Culbertson Lindley. He was a millwright foreman for Duke Power Company. He was a veteran and a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Frances G. Lindley of the home; daughters, Edwina Kilpatrick of Richmond, VA and Andrea Teague of Rock Hill; and one grandson. Funeral services were held April 26 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. Christina D. Martin, 74, of Greenville, died Apr. 22, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Archie and Lillie Young Duncan. Surviving are daughters, Linda Wharton of Piedmont and Patricia Martin of Greenville; sons, Joseph, Donnie and Robert Martin, all of Greenville; sisters, Pauline Miller and Corrine Breazeale, both of Greenville and Catherine Jolly of Maryland; and nine grandchildren. Funeral service was held April 28 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Martha Louise Owens Brock, 71, widow of R.T. Brock, died Apr. 29, 2007 at her home. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Addie Spearman Owens. She was retired from Cryovac in Simpsonville and attended Williamston Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Strickland of Williamston; sons, Ronnie Brock of Anderson, David Owens of Belton, Tony Brock of the home; sisters, Sue Page of Belton, Ann Youngblood of Hodges, Bell Laffey of Everett, WA, brothers, Jerry Mack Owens and Jimmy Owens of Belton; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 1 at Gray Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Garden of Memories.
Toni Levette Hendricks McClain, 74, wife of Bobby R. McClain, of Pelzer, died Apr. 27, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Raleigh, NC, she was a daughter of the late John Bunyon Hendricks and Mary Louree Elrod Turner. She was formerly employed by J. P. Stevens in Piedmont and a member of Southside Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Connie Evans, Susan Reid, both of Pelzer, Joyce Head of Georgia; son, Bunyon R. McClain of Williamston; sisters, Edith Eckie McClain of Piedmont, Evelyn Burton of West Pelzer; brother, Bill Hendricks of Washington State; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 30 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.Keneth Allsep Marvin Kenneth Ken Allsep, Gunnery Sgt, U.S. Marine Corps Retired, died Apr. 29, 2007. Born in Cateechee, he was a son of the late Edward Garland and Winnie Mae Dean Allsep. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, retired from Union Carbide/Amoco. Surviving are his daughter, Jayni Allsep of Tiburon, CA; sisters, Margaret Blackstock, Patsy Moore, Sue Herbert, all of Fountain Inn; brother, Harold Allsep of Pasadena, TX and one grandson. Graveside services with Military Honors will be May 3 at 11 a.m. at Norris City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the organization of your choice.
James Stanley Taylor, 70, husband of Thelma Louise Henderson Taylor, of Pelzer, died Apr. 26, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late James Murphy and Eunice Morgan Taylor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the State Guard, retired from the S.C. Highway Department and worked at Hardees in Pelzer and in Piedmont and was a Baptist. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, James Jeffrey Taylor, Randy Derrick Taylor, both of Pelzer; daughters, Rhonda Taylor Ingram of Piedmont, Rita Smith White of Pelzer; sister, Beverly Taylor Edens of Pickens; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 28 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
April 16, 1937 - April 28, 2007 PELZER - Audrey Nell Martin Sutherland, 70, wife of Norris Ross Sutherland, of 116 Whitten Road, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Blease and Ruth Dalrymple Martin. She was the teacher of the three year old class at New Hope Baptist Church Day Care and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Maria Sutherland Chandler and John Thomas Chandler of Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, David Martin and Sallie Foster Sutherland of Williamston; sisters, Wanda Giles, Mildred Cox, Helen Griffith, all of Williamston; grandchildren, Blake Sutherland, Ashley Chandler and John Adam Chandler; and aunt, Sara Hickman of Pelzer. She was predeceased by a son, Norris Randall Sutherland; and a sister, Carolyn Sutherland. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the Rev. Richard Burton and the Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family was at the home and received friends Sunday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Paul Dean Anderson, Jr., 47, of Pelzer, died Apr. 28, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenville County, a son of Paul Dean Anderson Sr., of Canton, OH, and Jessie Lanning Wood of Easley, he was a self-employed automotive mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Dawn Jordan Anderson of the home; two sons, John Anderson and Lee Anderson, both of Easley; a brother, Carl Junior Taplin of Easley; three sisters, Sandra Anderson and Paulette Saavedra, both of Easley and Teresa Corbin of Greenville; and four grandchildren. Memorial services were held May 1 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown Easley.
Jeffrey Lasenbery of Atlanta, GA, died April 26, 2007 at his home. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Mrs. Carolyn A. Lasenbery and the late William Lasenbery. He served in the U.S. Army. Surviving in addition to his mother are, three brothers, Gerald P. of Piedmont, William C. of Littleton, CO and Donald K. Lasenbery of Greenville. Funeral services were held May 1 at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary.
James Leonard Riddle, 79, of Anderson, husband of Edith Turner Riddle, died Apr. 26, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Perry and Floy Parker Riddle. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas. Surviving are his wife, Edith of the home; daughter, Lynn Green of Williamston; son, Randy Riddle of Anderson; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Grisham of Greenville and Evelyn McDowell of Greenville. Graveside services were held Apr. 29 at Graceland Cemetery.
Mark Twain Poore, 69, husband of Jewel Ashley Poore of Honea Path died Apr. 28, 2007 at his home. Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Leland R. and Helen Bannister Poore. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He retired as a Warden with the SC Forestry Commission and was also a farmer. He was an officer and served on the Board of Directors for Friendship Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his wife are: sons, Shane Poore and Lee Poore, both of Honea Path; brothers, Wilford and Phillip Poore, both of Honea Path; sister, Joan Phillips of West Pelzer; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Apr. 29 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Playground Fund.
January 7, 1940-April 30, 2007 WILLIAMSTON - Kenneth Kenny Ray Cooley, 67, husband of Patricia Martin Cooley, of 6814 Midway Road, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at NHC Healthcare of Anderson. Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Vance and Jessie Davenport Cooley. He retired from Saco-Lowell in Easley and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Chris Couch, Yvonne and Scott Nichols, all of Pelzer; sisters, Sylvene Massey of Greenville, Linda Oliver of Piedmont; brothers, Grady Cooley, Edward Cooley, both of Easley, Leon Cooley, Jimmy Cooley, Ronald Cooley, all of Pelzer; and grandchildren, Brandon Couch, Brianne Couch, Jared Nichols, and Katlyn Nichols. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the Rev. Jimmie Farmer and the Rev. Landrum Reece officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is at the home and will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Hazel Ruth Watson, 73, widow of Jack Jackson of Anderson, died Apr. 26, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was born in Anderson County and was the daughter of the late John and Lily Hoover Watson. She is survived by her brother, Arthur James Watson of Belton; five sisters, Mary McGlocking of St. Augustine, FL, Eva Jane Freeman and Catherine Jones, both of Anderson, Sara Poole of Central and Jeanette Airline of Pelzer. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. May 3 in the Marvin R. Mattison Memorial Chapel, D.B. Walker Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
