Todd Windsor White, 42, husband of Lynne Hudson White, of Pelzer, died May 2, 2006. Born in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of Julian Bryant White of Boca Raton, FL and Frankye Windsor White of Jacksonville, FL. He was owner and operator of Forever Built Construction and a member of Washington Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his step-mother, Dorothy A. White of Boca Raton, FL; son, Steven A. White of Worcester, MA; daughter, Danielle White of VT; step-daughter, Sarah Lurvey of Middlebury, VT; step-son, Jacob Lurvey of Lackland, TX; and sister, Shannon Rachel of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services were held May 5 at Washington Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetey. Memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.
BELTON, SC - Ozella Ruth Poole Chapman, 87, of 305 Lickville Road, beloved wife and widow of Dr. John B. Chapman, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Ozella Rose Stone and Joseph Edward Poole. She was a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald and Eleanor Chapman of Belton, Joe and Wanda Chapman of Piedmont; daughter, Linda G. Richey of Honea Path; seven grandchildren, Deborah Matteson, Ed Chapman, Chris Chapman, Robby Richey, Chad Richey, Heather Seawright, Joey Chapman and thirteen great-grandchildren, Will, Jacob and Scarlett Matteson, Ryan and Amber Chapman, Kristina, Jared and Ruthie Chapman, Clayton Chapman, Dustin and Callie Richey, Will and Angellia Seawright. She was predeceased by a son, Johnny E. Chapman. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 5 at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Burton, Dr. Glenn Taylor, and the Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family members are at the home of a grandson, Ed Chapman, 301 Lickville Road, Belton and received friends May 4 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Lillian Mae Hughey Pitts, 87, of Fair Play, widow of Welborn Terry Pitts, died May 3, 2006 at her home. Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Minerva Evans Hughey. She was retired from ITM Southern and a member of Conestee Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Cathy P. Owens of Fair Play; two sons, Dan Pitts of Williamston, Don Pitts of Fair Play; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family. Graveside services were held May 5 at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Homer Lee Owens, son of the late Edith Jones and Fate Owens, died May 3, 2006. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Watson Owens; two daughters, Teresa White and Donna Owens; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be announced later.
Annie Ginn Whitfield, 77, died May 3, 2006 at Hospice House of Anderson. Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Etta Lucille Dutton Ginn. She was retired from Textiles and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughter, Pat Arflin of Anderson; brother, Jimmy Ginn of Williamston; sisters, Louise English and Shirley Aldrich, both of Anderson; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held May 5 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Martha Louise Sheriff Shelnutt, 82, of Greenville, died May 4, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Powdersville, she was a daughter of the late Calhoun and Barbara Williams Sheriff. She was a homemaker and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Rodger James of Easley; a daughter, Ann Nix of Travelers Rest; a brother, Ralph Sheriff of Piedmont; two sisters, Ellen Garrison of Simpsonville and Bobby Jean Jackson of Clinton; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, B.D. Shelnutt. Funeral services were held May 6 at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens, Easley.
George R. Murphy, age 40, died unexpectedly on April 29, 2006, on a visit to Las Vegas, Nevada, to return his mother to James Island, SC. He is survived by his daughter, Audrey Murphy; his parents, Sally Murphy and Dr. Joseph A. Murphy, retired Professor of Education at Lander University; a brother, Joseph A. Murphy, Jr., of Las Vegas; a sister, Nancy Murphy of James Island; and nephews, Joseph IV, Christopher, Nicholas, and Jacob Murphy. George was born in Hollywood, FL on January 27, 1966. When he was two years old, he and his family moved to South Carolina. He attended Cambridge Academy in Greenwood. He was a member of two state champion soccer teams and was voted most outstanding player. He played soccer with and was voted captain of the Greenville Dynamo of the SC Youth Soccer League during an undefeated 28 win season. He attended Greenwood High School, Greenwood, SC for two years and was a field goal kicker on the football team. His Senior year he attended and was a 1984 graduate of the Thornwell High School, Clinton, SC. He was the place kicker and the field goal kicker for the 1983 undefeated number one ranked and State SCISA Football Champions. He was a guard on the 1984 Upper State Basketball Champions, played on the Upper State 1984 Champion Baseball team, setting a record for the most hits in a season, and was a member of the 1984 State Champion Track team. George thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter, fisherman, and athlete. He was a success in each of these endeavors. After graduation, he attended the Canterbury Prep School, Milford, CT. He established records for the most field goals and points scored by a kicker. He was recruited by and awarded a football scholarship to the University of Iowa where he went to the Rose Bowl and three other bowls. He graduated from the University in 1989 as a four year letterman being awarded the Most Valuable Special Teams Player Award his senior year. After graduation he entered the entertainment business and was the owner and manager of dance clubs in Hilton Head, SC, Savannah, GA, and Nashville, TN. His Savannah club The Zoo received national recognition as The place to go when in Savannah. He was currently engaged in business in Charleston County. Although George had much success as a sportsman, athlete and businessman, he will always be remembered by his family for the devotion and love he had for them. His friends will remember him as being loyal, true and generous. George never met a stranger. He had the ability to relate to others from all levels of society and to make these folk feel welcome and important. He truly enjoyed being involved with people. A memorial service will be held at the Rock Bridge Presbyterian Church, Highway 72, Clinton, SC on Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Audrey Murphy Scholarship Fund c/o Elizabeth D. McKinney, 1063 Old Milton Road, Clinton, SC 29325.
Snowley Mae Evans, 57, of Belton, died May 6, 2006 at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Anderson County, she was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church. She was formerly employed at Orr Lyons Mill and Hamricks. Surviving are widower, Johnny Evans and daughter Jennifer Evans of the home; sons, Steven Barmore of Belton and Richard Evans of Augusta, GA; brothers, Robert Barmore of Anderson, Jack Barmore of Piedmont; and three grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Anna Simmons Barmore. Funeral service were held May 10, 2006 at New Hopewell Baptist Church in Belton. Burial followed in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
Belton - Frances Frasier, 68, wife of John T. Frasier of 350A Lickville Road, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at her residence. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Jesse Cannon. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Surviving in addition to her husband are: Daughters, Connie Ward and husband Charlie of Greer, Pam Rhodes and husband Tony of Belton, Kathey Carpenter and husband Ronnie of Starr; sons, David Frasier and wife Debbie of Anderson, Rick Frasier and wife Nicole of Simpsonville; and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to Hospice of Greenville. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dolly Harper Winiecki, 73, wife of Russell Gordon Winiecki of Williamston, died May 4, 2006 at Regency Hospital of Greenville. Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ida Mae Sammons Harper. She was retired from the Bibb Company and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of the home; daughter, Donna Ray Winiecki of the home; sons, Steve Winiecki, Jimmy Winiecki, both of Williamston, Mike Winiecki of Belton; brothers, Robert Harper of Belton, Truman Harper of Pelzer, Tommy Earl Harper of Fair Play; sister, Sue Kelly of Belton; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 7 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.Annie Darby Annie Darby, 74, widow of Earl F. Darby of Belton, died May 7, 2006 at her home. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late John Wilbur and Maggie Marie Crawford Watson. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and retired from Rice Mills. Surviving are brothers, Frankie Watson and L.V. Watson, both of Belton, Gordan Watson of Donalds, Paul Watson of Piedmont; and sister, Alma Jean Coker of Belton. Joe Crocker, 78, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Williamston, died at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center on May 1, 2006. He was born in Pelzer and retired from Pratt & Whitney. He was a volunteer fireman at Pratt & Whitney and for Palm Beach Gardens. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, North Palm Beach. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Crocker; a daughter, Sandra Schultetus of Palm Beach Gardens; sons, Michael W. Crocker and Ronald Bruce Crocker of Palm Beach Gardens; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Crocker of Pelzer. Alice Louise Nash Radford, 74, of Liberty, died May 5, 2006. Born in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Hobert Charles Nash and Helen Clair Zimmer Nash and widow of William Radford. She was an employee of Macshore Classics Inc. and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Davis of Pelzer, Kim Reaney of Marietta, and Helen Greene of Liberty; a son, Robert Earl Long of Anderson; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 8 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
John N. Parker, 79, husband of Marie Cox Parker, of Greenville, died May 1, 2006 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born in Lake Hamilton, FL, he was the son of the late Wayne P. and Kate McAlister Parker. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company. Surviving in addition to his wife are, sons, John Britt Parker of Summerton and Charles Mac McAlister Parker of Richmond, VA; sisters, Leona Parker of Clinton and Katherine Loflen of Columbia; and two grandchildren. Services were held May 10 at First Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Garden of Memories. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Music Fund or Agape We Care Fund. |
