TALMAGE PARRIS

Talmage George Parris, 90, husband of Nellie Lee Butler Parris, of Williamston, died May 26, 2007 at AnMed Health Center.

Born in Greenville, he was son of the late James B. and Daisy Delure Byers Parris. He was formerly employed at Salisbury Pharmaceutical Research Laboratory and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving are his wife of the home; four daughters, Nancy Lee Brown of Plains, VA, Mildred Christine Owens and Pamela Sue Parris of Greenville, Faye “Dee” Rawlins of Laurens; three sons, Charles A. Collins of Taylors, Paul Douglas Parris of Williamston, James B. Parris of Greenville; half sister, Mary Fern Peterson of Ogden, UT; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was twice married, first to the late Dorothy E. Parris.

Memorial services were held May 29 at the Anderson Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery.

RALPH HONEA

Ralph Robert Honea, 23, husband of Deissy Janeth Honea, of Taylors, died May 26, 2007.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of Thomas Harris Honea of Maine and Bridget Dee Dirk Honea of Piedmont. He was formerly employed with Griffin Thermal Products.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife of the home; daughter, Jasmine Natalia Honea of the home; sisters, Tiffany Ann Honea of Piedmont, Jessica Evelyn Honea of Maine; and grandmothers, Doris Evelyn Honea of Seneca and Shirley Ann Griffiths of Colorado.

Funeral services were held May 29 at Gray Mortuary chapel.


AGNES MOORE

Agnes Bayne Moore, 96, of Piedmont, widow of Boyd Franklin Moore, Sr., died May 27, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Carey Moore of the home, James Bayne of Mount Pleasant; brother, Carlos Bayne of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 29 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.


CAREY MOORE

Carey Douglas Moore, 64, of Greenville, died May 22, 2007.

Born in Sylva, NC, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Mary Lucy  Moody Moore.

He was a self-employed carpenter and was a United States Army Reserve Veteran.

Surviving are a daughter, Angie Emery of Easley; two sons, Bryan  Moore of Taylors, Shane Moore of Williamston; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Bob Moore of Greenville and Ben Moore of Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services were held May 26 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown chapel. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.


AZILEE NOLAND

Azilee L. Cowart Noland, 77, formerly of Mauldin, died May 21, 2007 at the home of her daughter on Lake Harding in Valley, AL.

She was born in Possum Kingdom, daughter of the late Jake H. Cowart and Gaynell Vinson Cowart.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence D. Noland; daughter, Brenda A. Greaney of Valley, AL; sister, Dora Lee Legg of Piedmont; brother, Clyde Jim Cowart of Mauldin; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 23, 2007 with interment at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL.


TERRY LEE PAINTER

Terry Lee Painter, 51, of Belton, died May 26, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Henry C. Painter Jr., and Margaret Ruth Evatte Painter. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a sister, Sheila K. Dorsey of Piedmont and a brother, Walter Stephen Painter of Greer.

Graveside services were held May 30 at Reedy Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenville.


MAMIE S. REID

Mamie Seaborn Reid, 94, of Pelzer, died May 24, 2007 at her home.

A daughter of the late Will Seaborn and Josephine Burts Seaborn and wife of the late John W. Reid, she was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Pelzer. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters, Ruth A. Cook of Pelzer, Bobbie J. Hampton of Greenville, Willie Mae Crump of Roswell, GA, Janie E. Reid of Piedmont; three sons, John W. Reid of Greenville, Lonnie M. Reid of Columbia, Calvin S. Reid of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held May 28 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.


LEE ‘PETE’ JOHNSON

Lee “Pete” Johnson, 81, of Elberton, GA, died May 24, 2007 at Spring Valley Health Care.

Born in Hart County, he was the son of the late Jack and Anna Price Johnson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a member of the rescue squad and Grace Baptist Church and was retired from Elberton Sheet Metal and carpentry work.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Welborn Johnson of the home; daughters, Betty Timms of Elberton, Cynthia Johnson of Gulf Shores, AL, Tanya Scoggins of Elberton; and son, Danny Johnson of Piedmont; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Floyd of Canon, GA, Mary Boilter of Abbeville; and brother, Arthur Johnson of Cannon.

Funeral services were held May 28 in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home.


RALPH GUYTON PATTON

Ralph Guyton Patton, 67, of Williamston, died May 29, 2007 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Daniel C. and Girlie Patton. He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra Wright Patton.

Funeral services will be announced by Cox Funeral Home.


KATHY ANN LEWIS AMOS

Kathy Ann Lewis Amos, 44, of Belton, died May 23, 2007 at the Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, Joan Quinn Scarborough and stepfather, Johnny L. Scarborough, both of Anderson, she is survived by her son, S. Brandon Anderson of Anderson; daughters Britni Melissa Amos Tinsley of Spartanburg and Kali Loren Huskey of the home; brothers, Lee Lewis of Anderson, John Scarborough, Jr. of New York and Tim Jordan of Greenville; sisters, Melissa Hofmeister of Beaufort and Jillian Scarborough of Piedmont; and eight grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father, Donnie Lee “Bo” Lewis.

Funeral services were held May 25 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

MIKE POLLARD

August 24, 1956-May 21, 2007

ANDERSON - James Michael “Mike” Pollard, 50, of 119 Sneed Road, died Monday, May 21, 2007.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Dorothy Vance Pollard of Belton and the late Billy Randolph Pollard. He was a Stationary Engineer for the steam and power facility at Clemson University, a former employee of the Oconee Nuclear Station, and attended New Spring Community Church. Mike had a great sense of humor and was a really sweet man.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughters, Tonya Cornell and her husband Christopher of Keene, NH, Jennifer Pollard of Greenville, Nikki Pollard of the home; step-daughters, LaTasha Mahon, Stacey Hogg, both of Honea Path; brother, William R. “Bobby” Pollard of Belton; sister, Martha Davis and her husband Frank of New Orleans, LA; and grandchildren, Celeste Bagwell and Tobias Cornell.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Randolph Pollard.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the Rev. Jake Beaty officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of his mother, Dorothy Vance Pollard, 318 Youth Center Road, Belton, and received friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.


R. L. SPEARMAN

Ralsa Leroy “R.L.” Spearman, 81, husband of Velma Joyce Cooley Spearman, of Pelzer, died May 22, 2007 at Fountain Inn Nursing Home.

Born in Ninety Six, he was the son of the late Ernest Samuel and Nannie Gambrell Spearman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from Erskine College, and  a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Belton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Susan Joyce Finley of Pelzer; son, Michael Lee Spearman of the home; sisters, Nannie Belle King of Greenwood, Elizabeth Irene Nunn of Ninety Six, Janie Lucille Caton of Greenville; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held May 25 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery in Greenville.

HENRY VAUGHAN

Henry Dewey Vaughan, 84, husband of Florence Evans Vaughan, of Piedmont, died May 23, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late William Lee and Pauline Hammond Vaughan. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Cushman Mill in Williamston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Glenna V. Thurston of Greenville; sons, Dewey A. Vaughan, David H. Vaughan, both of Piedmont, Dennis J. Vaughan of Belton, Trent E. Vaughan of Honea Path; sisters, Mary Beveridge of Pendleton, Nell Otey, Betty Shultz, both of Cordova; brother, James Vaughan of Greenville; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held May 25 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.


MARY S. GIPSON

Mary Summey Gipson, 85, died May 23, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

She was born in Central and was the daughter of the late Glen G. and Lena Stewart Sanders.

She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church in Easley.

She was predeceased by two husbands, William ‘Red’ Summey and Cleo Gipson.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathe ‘Sunny’ Boyd of Piedmont; step-daughter, Sarah Whitson of Campobello; brother, Johnny Sanders of Central; sister, Tracey Sanders of Anderson; one granddaughter; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held May 26 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central.


FRANKLIN RUTLEDGE

Franklin Rutledge, 73, of Williamston, died May 22, 2007 at AnMed Health Center.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Lemuel and Lillie Moorehead Rutledge.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Rutledge of the home; son, Douglas Rutledge of the home; brother, Sam and Marcell Rutledge, both of Williamston.

Funeral service was held May 26 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Williamston. Burial followed in the church cemetery.


BOBBY GOFORTH

Bobby Goforth, 53, of Lebanon, TN, died May 27, 2007 at his home. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his daughter, Heidi R. Goforth; two grandchildren; and mother, Panzy Ferrell of Valdosta, GA.

Visitation will be 6-8p.m. June  1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
