MILDRED HARRIS WILLIMON

Mildred Harris Willimon, 84, died June 23, 2007.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late J. Clyde Harris and Ethel Greer Harris. She was a charter member of Liberty Ministries Church International.

Surviving are her son, Norwood Dickerson Jr. of Cayce; brother, James C. Harris of Pelzer; sister, Thelma Harris Wooten of Williamston; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband A. Norwood Dickerson Sr.

Funeral services were held June 27 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Interment followed in Southland Memorial Gardens.

KARLENE WRENN

Karlene Campbell Wrenn, 64, wife of Richard Wrenn of Ware Shoals died June 24, 2007 at Self Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Anderson County, a daughter of Josephine Irby Campbell of Anderson and the late Truman Allen Campbell. She was retired from Emerald Center and was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her husband of the home and mother are son, Captain Robert Bryant, USAF, Charleston; two step-sons, Rick Wrenn and Daniel Wrenn, both of Honea Path; one brother, Phillip Campbell of Williamston; and a sister, Madeline Dixon of Anderson and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 27 at Columbia Baptist Church Cemetery.


ROSA LEE POINTER

Rosa Lee Pointer, 79, of Seneca, died June 24, 2007 at her home.

Born in Westminster, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Lydia Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Rev. Carl W. Pointer; sons, Jerry Thomas Pointer of Pendleton, Carl Danny Pointer of Greer; daughter, Sandi Lee Cox of Piedmont; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wade and Zelia Smith.

Funeral services were held June 27 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster. A private burial was held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.


WALLACE STONE

January 22, 1924-June 25, 2007

WILLIAMSTON -  Wallace Harper Stone, 83, husband of Polly Cooley Stone, of 11 Edgewood Drive, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late George and Jocelyn Pack Stone. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Southern Bell. He was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith and a Pelzer Williamston Jaycee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Larry W. Stone of El Cerrito, CA, Danny H. “Peanut” Stone and his wife Denise of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic; brother, Rudolph Stone of Williamston; grandchildren, Amanda Childers, Joshua Stone, Jessica Stone; and great-grandchildren, Miranda Childers, Luke Childers, and Ethan Childers.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with Pastor Wally Winner and Pastor Mike Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith Cemetery.

The family is at the home and received friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A.M. ‘PETE’ REEVES

Adolphus Martin “Pete” Reeves SSgt, Ret., 75, of Easley, husband of Kathleen Roper Reeves, died June 18, 2007 at his home.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Fields “Babe” and Sarah Breazeale Reeves. He was a retired Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army serving both in Korea and Vietnam. He was a former employee with Saco Lowell and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Mark Reeves of Easley; a daughter, Diane Dills of Easley; three brothers, Bill Reeves of Wellford, Carl Reeves of Greenville and Ray Reeves of Pelzer; two sisters, Thelma Fletcher of Easley and Annie Mae McCree of Tennessee; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held with military honors June 21 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Hoyt Weisner

Francis Hoyt Weisner, 80, of Piedmont, died June 19, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Harold and Adice Smith Weisner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Lynne Sharpe of Greer, Janet Greer of Inman, Lisa Pettit of Spartanburg, Susan Williams of Lyman; the mother of his children, Gladys W. Aiken of Lyman; sisters, Margaret Ellison of Anderson, Judy McAbee of Woodruff; brothers, Jerry Weisner of Greenville, the Rev. Julian Weisner of Easley, Rhett Weisner of Moonville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held June 22 at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

BLANCHE HAMBY

Blanche Tesnear Hamby, 88, of Pelzer, widow of Jesse Hamby, died June 20, 2007 at Anmed Health Center.

Born in Greeneville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lura Brown Tesnear. She was formerly employed at the Kendall Company and a member of the Pelzer Church of God.

Surviving are two sisters, Sarah Cheek of Anderson, Leona Rogers of Williamston; brother, Robert Tesnear of Piedmont and one grandson.

Graveside services were held June 22 at Pine Lawn Cemetery.


LEON BURKETTE ALLEN

Leon Burkette Allen, 72, widower of the late Annie Laura Meeks Allen of Williamston, died June 21, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Burkette and Vearon Lyes Allen.

Surviving are daughter, Patty Wood of Williamston; son, Jerry Michael Allen of Williamston; sisters, Minnie Payne and Geraine Allen; and one grandchild.

Graveside services were held June 23 at Garden of Memories.

Lucille Frances Phillips Morrow Kidd, 87, formerly of Greenville, died June 22, 2007 at Ivy Hill Nursing Center in Brevard, NC.

Born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Marion and Edna Dyer Phillips, she was a retired employee with Stone Manufacturing of Greenville and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Woodrow Morrow of Greenville; brother, Bill Phillips of Asheville, NC; sister, Alice Marie Hooper of Piedmont; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Claude W. Morrow and her second husband Jack Kidd.

Graveside services were held June 25 in Graceland West Cemetery.


HELEN AYERS

Helen Bond Ayers, 77, of Anderson, wife of the late Lester Rendell Ayers, died June 23, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson.

Born in Elbert County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Claude Bond and Mary Rousey Bond.

She is survived by her daughters, Ren Smith of Anderson, Delise Stone of Pelzer, and Elaine Stokes of Anderson; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held June 25 at Elmherst Cemetery in Elberton, GA.
