LEE FARMER

Lee Jackson Farmer, 73, husband of Maryland Sue James Farmer, of Williamston, died July 10, 2007 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Johnny Arthur and Idell Belcher Farmer and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Celanese Corporation in Greenville and was currently employed with Carolina Auction and a member of Restoration Chapel Church of God of Prophecy in Williamston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Patricia Lynn Crosby of Leesville, Pamela Faye Onley of Columbia; son, the Rev. Timothy Lee Farmer of Williamston; sister, Kathleen Frasier of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 13 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

WALTER ‘HERB’ COTHRAN JR.

Walter Herbert Cothran, Jr., 65, of Travelers Rest, died July 10, 2007 at North Greenville Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Walter H. Cothran Sr. and Geneva Duncan Cothran. He was a certified technician, retiring from D&D Motors. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Bryant Cothran of the home; daughter, Janet Scott of Williamston; son, George Cothran of Taylors; sister, Evelyn Ligon; two brothers, Robert and John Cothran; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 13 at The Howze Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed at Grandview Memorial Garden.

LEWIS BURGESS, SR.

Lewis Alford Burgess, Sr., husband of Josephine King Burgess, of Belton, died July 12, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Allen and Georgia Ann Capps Burgess. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Monaghan Mills and a member of Dry Oak Assembly of God.

Surviving are his wife of the home; three daughters, Betty Jo Holcombe of the home, Mary Burgess Carpenter of Honea Path, Sara Evelyn Gary of Simpsonville; son, Lewis Alford Burgess, Jr. of Greenville; three sisters, Ruby Cox of Ware Shoals, Minnie Duncan of Taylors, Beaulah Chapman of Honea Path; three brothers, Ellis Burgess, Calvin Burgess, both of Belton, Marvin Bradshaw of Ft. Inn; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 15 at Dry Oak Assembly of God. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.


SARA ‘BILL’ BEAR

August 14, 1933 - July 14, 2007

WILLIAMSTON, Sara “Bill” Alene Garner Bear, 73, wife of Robert Lee “Bob” Bear of 211 South Green Street, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at her home.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Charlie and Darkes Pryor Garner. She was a homemaker and attended Pleasant View Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are her husband of the home; two daughters, Sherri and her husband Michael Aiken of Williamston, Nancy Bear of the home; son, Danny and his wife Margie Bear of Pelzer; brother, Jerry Garner of Anderspn; sister, Doris “Peggy” Austin of Pelzer and granddaughter, Bethany Bear.

Services were held 2 p.m. July 16 at Gray Mortuary Chapel with Rev. W. Herbert Taylor and Rev. Richard Burton officiating. Burial followed in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

The family is at the home of Danny Bear, 100 Hinson Drive, Pelzer and received friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.


MARGARET MEDLOCK

Margaret Bradley Strawhorn Medlock, 86, widow of Elbert Lee Medlock, of Belton, died July 13, 2007 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Milton G. and Effie Roper Strawhorn. She was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Edward Medlock of Simpsonville and Charles R. Medlock of Honea Path; four daughters, Frances Gambrell of Anderson, Barbara Coker of Belton, Betty Wells of Greenwood and Brenda Bryant of Pelzer; one brother, James Strawhorn of Honea Path; one sister, Sara Davis of North Augusta; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 15 at Columbia Baptist Church. Burial followed in Columbia Baptist Church Cemetery.


TASHA BRAGG

Tasha Lugean Bragg, 25, of Pelzer, died July 12, 2007.

She was born in Greenville to Mitchell Bragg and the late Debra Lugean Bishop Bragg. She was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her father are; a daughter, Lexie Burns; a sister, Misty Bragg; and grandparents, Marion and Nancy Johnson.

Memorial services were held July 15 in the chapel of Fletcher Funeral Service.

JAMES EDWARD ‘ED’ COOLEY

James Edward “Ed” Cooley, 73, of Greenville, died July 14, 2007 at his home.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late William Gattis and Minnie Lee Revels Cooley.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Western Electric/AT&T.

He was a member of Berea First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Earline Stroud Cooley; three daughters, Robin C. Elliott of Greenville, Debra C. Galloway of Easley, and Deonda C. Weldon of Clemson; two sisters, Anne Thompson and Jean Cooley, both of Atlanta; four brothers, Joe Cooley of Belton, Charles Cooley and Richard Cooley, both of Pelzer and Carol Cooley of Waterford, CT; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 16 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.

A private graveside service was held July 17 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

MELONIE REECE FOLEY

Melonie Reece Foley, 48, daughter of the late Charles and Madge Reece, died July 12, 2007 at William Chile’s Hospice House in Palm Bay.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Foley; children, Joy Greer of Orlando, FL and Joe Greer, Jr. of Pelzer; one granddaughter; sisters, Sandra Wardlaw of Williamston and Sheila Williams of Williamston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 19, 2007 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 3635 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. If you wish to send flowers please have them delivered to the church.


ANNIE HUGHEY

Annie Estelle Elizabeth McClellion Hughey, 92, formerly of Williamston, widow of James Thomas Hughey, died July 16, 2007 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Perry and Clara Lorine Bryant McClellion. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are sister, Lillie Ellen Rumsey of Anderson; and brothers, Grady McClellion of Pelzer and Ellis McClellion of West Pelzer.

Graveside services were held July 18 at Williamston Cemetery.
