Oliver Frazier, 60, of Greenville, died Aug. 3, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, he was a son of Aurilla Sloan Frazier of the home and the late Willie James Frazier. Surviving in addition to his mother are, his wife, Elma D. Frazier of Greenville; daughters, Tamara Smith and Thelma Mack, both of Greenville; sons, Mark Frazier of Piedmont and Brian Frazier of Greenville; sisters, Carolyn Roebuck and Rhunetta Young, both of Greenville; brother, Daniel Frazier of the home; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Dorothy Pridmore Satterfield, 78, formerly of Greer, widow of Otis Earl Satterfield, died Aug. 6, 2007 at Magnolia Place of Greenville. A native of Inman, daughter of the late Madison Reeves and Ina Suddeth Pridmore, she was retired from J.P. Stevens and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Lyman. Surviving are two daughters, Rachael Hudson of Osage City, Kansas and Alice Thompson of Greer; four sons, Michael Satterfield and Steve Satterfield, both of Greer, Douglas Satterfield of Chapin, and Randy Satterfield of Campobello; two sisters, Julia Aileen Hamilton of Greenville and Nancy Kate Fulbright of Piedmont; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Calvary Baptist Church, Lyman. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Jackie Lynn Owens, 54, of Easley, died Aug. 5, 2007. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Cleveland and Bobbie Jane Wilson Owens. She was employed with Kemet Electronics and attended Cross Roads Baptist Church in Simpsonville. Surviving are three daughters, Angie Stevens of Powdersville, Kristy Baker of St. Marys, Georgia and Brandi Smith of Easley; a sister, Susie Owens of Piedmont; two brothers, Dickie Owens of Cross Hill and Larry Owens of Fountain Inn; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 in the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Memorials may be made in memory of Jackie L. Owens to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Robert Ted Frog Patterson, 62, of Anderson, died Aug. 5, 2007 at the Regency Hospital of Saint Francis Hospital in Greenville. Born in Anderson he was a son of the late James Ford Patterson and Valeria Mauldin Patterson. He retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Anderson. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Anne Perry Patterson of Anderson; sons, Gordon Patterson of Anderson and Eric Greer of Williamston; daughters, Pam Thompson and Daphonie Hockman, both of Anderson; brother, Rev. Jim Patterson of Greenville; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 7 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed in Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson.
PIEDMONT - Odell Williams, 80, husband of Bobbie Garrett Williams, of 6 Donald Street, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at his home. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Bessie Williams. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company, a member of the Odd Fellows Pelzer Lodge, and a Baptist. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughter, Betty Henry of Piedmont; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Billy Childress of Piedmont, Vicky and Barry Alexander of Pelzer; son, David Lee Williams of Piedmont; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Odell and Kym Williams of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Aug. 8 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, with the Rev. Gerald Martin officiating. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family members are at their respective homes and received friends 10-11a.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Michael Mike Troy Harris, 37, husband of Barbara Wiler Harris, of Belton, died Aug. 6, 2007. Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Barbara Seabolt Harris of Piedmont and the late Troy Harris. He was the owner of B&M Heating and Air, a member of Conestee Church of God of Prophecy, and the lead guitar player for the Straight Line band. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by sons, Michael Harris, Jr., Matthew Harris, both of the home; step-children, Tina Davis of Winston Salem, NC, Jamie Davis of Detroit, MI; and seven step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 9 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Hattie Mae Grier, 78, of Williamston died Aug. 2, 2007 at Greenville County Hospital. Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Williams Haskell Nash and Alice Delphina Nash. She was retired from SNET in New Haven, CT. Surviving are two sons, Larry Grier, Jr. of Connecticut and Brian K. Grier of Greenwood. She also leaves five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister. Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Williamston. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
PIEDMONT - Andy Chief Nelson, 90, formerly of Piedmont, widower of Nellie Mae Hollingsworth Nelson, died Monday, August 6, 2007, at Easley Living Center. Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Andy and Exie Simmons Nelson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Piedmont Landscaping, and attended Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle in Piedmont. Surviving are daughters, Betty Holland of Williamston, Shirley Philyaw of West Pelzer, Linda Slaton of Piedmont, Carolyn Brooks of Williamston; sons, Douglas Nelson of Williamston, Lloyd Nelson of West Pelzer, Roy Nelson of Piedmont; brothers, David Nelson of Wellford, Hayward Nelson of Woodruff; sisters, Pearl Boone of Pelham, Merle Terry of Mauldin; 26 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons, Don Nelson, Leland Nelson, and Virgil Nelson. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, with the Revs. Charles Bell and Frances Cobb officiating. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of a daughter, Shirley Philyaw, 1 Park Street, West Pelzer, and received friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. January 1, 1947 - August 5, 2007 GREENVILLE - Johnny Mack Gregory, Jr., 60, husband of Dale Kay Gregory, of 116 Central Avenue, died Sunday, August 5, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville he was a son of the late Johnnie Mack, Sr., and Charlotte Eaton Gregory. He was owner and operator of Mack Pest Eliminators, Inc., and previously worked at Gregory Pest Control with his brother, Phil, and his sister-in-law, Sara. He was a member of the South Carolina Pest Control Association, the National Pest management Association, the Upper State Apartment Association, and served as Past President of the Upper Piedmont Pest Control Association. Mack was also a former manager with A&P Grocery Store. He was a member of Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, the Brandon Masonic Lodge #279, and was a Hejaz Shriner. Mack was a caring and loving husband, dad and grandfather who loved his family and his church family, and loved playing Santa at Christmas. He is survived by his wife, Dale Kay Gregory of the home; daughters, Caroline Moore of Belton, Michelle Gregory of Greenville; son, Tyler Moore of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Sara Gregory of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Gerald Abbott of Greer; special father-in-law Marvin Kay of Belton; brother-in-law, Wallace Kay of Belton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mimmie and Stanley Coker of Pelzer; grandchildren, Donnie Callahan, Luke Gault, Brittany and Jessica Norris, and Jacob Gregory; a special niece and nephew, Stacey and Bryan Bagwell; four additional nieces; two additional nephews; and other special cousins and family members. He was predeceased by a special friend, Gregory Parris. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith with Pastor Jeff Fletcher and Mr. Bill Vaughn officiating. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery in Greenville. The family is at the home and received friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Florence N. Peterson, 88, widow of Gustaf Peterson, died July 31, 2007. She was a daughter of the late Jacob and Rena Namminga. She was a homemaker and a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Richard Peterson of Piedmont; brother, Jacob Namminga, Jr.; sister, Edith Kuiper; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 2 at The Mackey Mortuary. Interment followed in Dade Memorial Park, Miami, Florida.
Patricia Pat June Schoenholz Gregg, 66, wife of Dalton Leon Gregg, of Pelzer, died August 2, 2007 at her home. Born in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of the late Edward John, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Frisz Schoenholz. She retired from First Federal of Oceola and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Susan Getman of Rexford, NY; sons, John McRoy of Pelzer, Robert McRoy of Clermont, FL; step-daughters, Joyce Lewis of Cookeville, TN, Michelle Gresham of Beaufort, Laura Gregg Shene of Pelzer; brothers, Terry Schoenholz of Simpsonville, Larry Schoenholz of Pelzer, Richard Schoenholz, Steve Schoenholz, both of Greenville, Mickey Schoenholz of Shelby, NC, Ronnie Schoenholz of Crane Hill, AL; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Tracy Terrapin, 43, of Travelers Rest, died July 30, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Surviving are two daughters, Christie Garrett of Liberty and Brandi Bellue of Williamston; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Cherl Miller, Dawn Kelly and Sheala Simmons; and one brother, Joey Kelly, all of Easley. No services are planned. A private family gathering will be held.
Minnie A. Moore, 86, formerly of Piedmont, died Aug. 1, 2007 at Countryside Park. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Adam Franklin Babe and Leila Norris Moore. She retired from the Judson Plant of Milliken Corporation and was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are a brother, Lindy Moore of Piedmont; and a sister, Hazel Hollingsworth of Piedmont. Graveside services were held Aug. 4 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Wade Red Porter, 73, husband of Doris Smith Porter of Pelzer, died Aug. 3, 2007 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital. Born in Pendleton, he was a son of the late Ira Oliver and Olivia Burgess Porter. He was a self-employed plumber and a mechanic and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife of the home; son, Terry Wade Porter of Anderson; daughters, Deborah Jean Stoeckley of Fayetteville, NC, Tana Suzanne Susie Lewis of Pelzer; brother, Oliver Porter of Piercetown Community; sisters, Olive Nation of Piercetown Community, Ruth Lockaby of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at White Plains Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, 1435 Easley Hwy., Pelzer, SC 29669.
B.C. (Berry Creamer) Bolt, 91, of Greenville died Aug. 4, 2007. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Noah and Eleanor Creamer Bolt. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a furniture salesman and also owned a greenhouse selling plants. He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church Simpsonville. Surviving are two sons, Berry Kenneth Bolt of Greenville and the Rev. Richard Glenn Bolt of Williamston; one daughter, Dr. Gayle Bolt Price of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Cockrell Bolt of Greenwood. His life was celebrated at services at First Baptist Simpsonville on Aug. 7. Graveside services were held at Edgewood Cemetery in Greenwood. Memorials may be made to Senior Action, 50 Directors Drive, Greenville, SC 29615.
Jewell Eaton Landreth, 79, of Piedmont, died Aug. 3, 2007. She was born in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Floyd M. and Chloe Eaton. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Emmanuel Tabernacle, Greer. She was predeceased by her husband, William W. Bill Landreth. Surviving are her son, William Wayne Landreth Jr. of Simpsonville; daughter, Linda Landreth Henderson of Powdersville; and four grandchildren.
