Ruth Jones Hall, 78, of Piedmont, died Dec. 16, 2007.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Jenny Burton Jones.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving is her husband, William E. Hall; two daughters, Donna Gambrell of Donalds, and Rhonda Hall of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.


CHARLES ALLEN

Charles Allen died Dec. 14, 2007.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Alma V. Allen and Alfred McElrath.

He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church and was employed with Bud Landscaping.

He is survived by a daughter, LaSonya Murdaugh of Hampton; three grandchildren; brothers, Robert Allen, Alfred McElrath, Jr. of Piedmont; Dennis McElrath, and James Roy McElrath of Greenville; sisters, Glenda Manigault of Simpsonville, Vanessa Jones and Sandra of Greenville.

Funeral service was held Dec. 19 at Watkins,Garrett & Woods Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.


LEVIS HOLLAND

Jan. 9, 1915 - Dec. 16, 2007

WILLIAMSTON - Levis Craton Holland, 92, formerly of Williamston, widower of Helen Knight Holland, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at NHC Health Care of Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Vennie Hiott Holland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Whitefield Baptist Church, and a life-long member of the Masons.

He is survived by sister, Lucille H. Campbell of Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Grady Staton of Williamston; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Ethel H. Ellison, Edith H. Ellison, Grace H. Pollard, and Mildred H. Staton.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Charles Strickland officiating.

The family members were at their respective homes and received friends following the service at the graveside.

The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Whitefield Baptist Church, 207 Mitchell Road, Belton, SC 29627 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.


DAVID FORD

Jan. 30, 1932 - Dec. 17, 2007

WILLIAMSTON - George David Ford, 75, beloved husband of Elizabeth Tinsley Ford for fifty years, of 123 Hardy Street, died Monday, December 17, 2007.

Mr. Ford was born January 30, 1932 in Pelzer to the late Rufus Hulon and Zura Evans Ford. He was educated at Palmetto High School, and at Greenville Technical College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Medical Corpsman in Germany. Mr. Ford retired from General Electric in Greenville and was a former member and Chief of Williamston EMS. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamston and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Cobb and her husband Bennie of Williamston; brother, Hulon Ford of West Pelzer; grandchildren, Cindy Bentley, Michael Miller, Jr., Shannon Dean, Angela Ryder, Jarrod Saylor, Marty Ford; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Michael Miller and Bruce Ford; grandchildren, Lynn Watson, Derek Miller; sister, Lucille Cooley; and brother, William Ford.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Dec. 20 at the First Baptist Church of Williamston with the Rev. Brad Bardin, the Rev. Dr. Jerry Sosebee, and the Rev. Phillip Clardy officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Ford’s grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers. Members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Williamston will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family is at the home and received friends from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 19 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
